Please note that all of the listed measurements for jeans on our website are based on a weighted average of multiple pairs and sizes. As the products we carry all have a handmade aspect to them during production, no two pieces of the same product will be exactly the same size.
The Guide to Measuring your Jeans :
1. Waist : Pull the button up to line up with the back of the waistband, and measure from one side to the other. Double the measurement to get your waist size.
2. Front Rise : Measure from top of the front of the jeans, till the crotch seam.
3. Upper Thigh : Measure from the crotch seam, across the leg to the edge of the jeans.
4. Knee : Measure from the crotch seam, down the inseam until 33 centimeters (or 13 inches).
Knee: From that point, measure across the jeans.
5. Inseam : Measure from the crotch seam all the way down till the hem of the leg.
6. Leg Opening : Measure across the hem of the jeans.
The general sizing of the clothing we carry at Okayama Denim may be a more slim and tapered fit than similar sized clothing from Western brands (i.e. a tagged size 33 waist from one of the Japanese brands we carry, will probably fit like a size 32 in most international denim brands).
Raw Denim
With all of the Unsanforized or Raw denim we carry, please note that the denim will slightly adjust in size according to the body and daily activities of the user. We advise against any washing before at least 20-30 wears. More importantly, for unsanforized denim we suggest to allow the natural creasing and fading to appear before considering washing. Many aficionados will wear their raw denim everyday for at least six months before carefully washing their jeans by hand.
*Once washed, raw denim will shrink between 2.5-5 cm (1-2inches) around the waist, about 8 cm (3 inches) on the inseam of the jeans. Please be careful of this fact when selecting the right size for your raw denim.
One Wash Denim
Washed denim is generally true to size and will not shrink significantly, as is the case with unsanforized. This fabric, typically referred to as One Wash or Sanforized, is pre-shrunk and will shrink only minimally after the first wash.

But if for any reason you are unhappy with the product you receive, please contact us within 30 days of your purchase to arrange returning it for store credit or a product exchange.
We will exchange all products that are unworn, unused, and with all original packing, tags, etc. If it is determined that the product has been worn, stained, or altered in any way, we will return the item back to you. Unfortunately, we are unable to accept returns or exchanges on jeans which have been hemmed after purchase. All items purchased on Sale or at a discounted rate are considered Final Sale.
On the unlikely occasion that one of our products arrive with a defect or damage from the manufacturer, we will gladly pay shipping both ways to replace the product in question. In the event that we send you a product which is the wrong size, color, or item all together, we will pay for the shipping both ways and grant you store credit. Furthermore, if you have purchased a product from us but are either not satisfied or have chosen the wrong size, we will gladly exchange your product for the correct size, or issue you store credit.
On all other occasions it is up to you to cover the cost of exchanging an item or returning one for credit. Store credit does not have an expiration date, and can be used toward any future purchase at OkayamaDenim.com. Your store credit will come in the form of a coupon code, which we will send to you via e-mail for use only at OkayamaDenim.com.

We begin processing orders soon after we have received them. The estimated time of processing the order and preparing your denim package is 3 to 5 business days. We use either EMS Japan Post or DHL for shipping our products globally, and will include tracking information for every single package we send. This tracking information will be provided within the Shipment Confirmation via e-mail, soon after the package is sent from our office in Japan.
