Kakishibu has a deep-rooted history in Japanese craft culture & tradition, dating back to the early 13th century when it was first introduced to Japan from China. Annually in late August, unripe persimmon is harvested as their tannin or juice is extracted. Used as a multi-solution tool, Kakishibu was used to cure hangovers, for wood lacquering, and even as a clearing agent for sake, to name only a few of the varied applications of the historic dye.

I'm a little over 6 feet tall 184cm, 150lbs 68kg, 32" waist 82cm Went with the size 34"s for a slightly relaxed fit. Turns out? Just a really good fit brand new. Material will likely loosen up with wear. Slightly relaxed on my waist, and inseam goes right to the bottom/back of heels (which I like) - means when I sit down, the inseam creeps only slightly up leg. Material is well photographed in model examples. Feels like it looks: medium heavy, soft. Color also has that deep blue, but with a slightly violet hue. I've been shopping for Sashiko style pants for a while now, but difficult to find a simple straight cut. Also, popularity, generally sold out. Glad I got these - very nice, good fit, unique material. Only thing better for me would be higher rise, but that's just my own personal preference.

These are some WILD pants. While they're cut in a standard 5 pocket like a normal jean, they fall outside typical descriptions. My girlfriend wasn't sure how to characterize them, as the cut looks casual but the fabric is...wild. The indigo and persimmon (kakishibu) weave combine to give an almost purple hue from a distance. Up close the craftsmanship & colors become apparent, and they're almost mistakable for jeans from 10'+. The details, stitching and fabric are all impeccable and flawless, beautifully constructed. They're surprisingly comfortable, almost like thickly woven sweatpants. Though I cannot yet determine how/what to wear them with, that's not a flaw of the product, lol. Did I say these were some wild pants?
