BILLI-004
The "Billiken" collection by Studio D'Artisan, puts on a pedestal a beloved deity to Osaka. Billiken is more than just a symbol; it's a cultural icon deeply rooted in the lives of Osakans. It's a deity known to bring good fortune in business, success in examinations, and fulfillment in matters of the heart. People from all walks of life visit to gently rub the soles of Billiken's feet in the hope of turning their wishes into reality.
Originating from the United States and brought to Japan around 1908, Billiken was created by the talented female artist Florence Pretz. The base of Billiken's statue carries the inscription, "The God of things as they ought to be." In Japanese, this translates to "the deity governing the ideal form of things." It reflects the belief that Billiken guides circumstances toward the way they should be.
Cut from American cotton, this Made in Japan Tee blends the best of both worlds. Opting for U.S. cotton during production, the T-shirt is durable as hell and heavyweight, a result of using short-staple cotton from the United States.
