Samurai dedicate their latest venture into heavyweight denim to an equally heavyweight warrior of the Sengoku period in Japan. Earning the nickname Kirinji (child prodigy) of San'in, Yukimori Yamanaka achieved renown during a particularly turbulent period where multiple clans were at war with one another. There is a famous anecdote of Yukimori praying under a moon, vowing to endure “Seven Misfortunes and Eight Pains” (a Buddhist term of hardship) in exchange for realizing his desire to revive the Amago clan. Yukimori was revered as the intrepid leader of the Amago army in a zealous mission to restore the clan's power after their defeat to the rival Mori clan.
