Loop & Weft’s introduction of their Made in Japan face mask applies a double face thermal fabric featuring a different knitting structure on the face and inlay of the fabric, first seen on their thermal waffle series from last season.
In the case of the production of this face mask, Loop & Weft double down on the use of the Wire Mesh thermal fabric. Using not one layer of the double face fabric, but layering the fabric so that the four layers of fabric serve as adequate filter & protection. The extra weight and thickness of layering the fabric also yields a mask that is durable while maintaining its functionality.
In terms of construction, the mask follows the DNA of Loop & Weft's meticulous sewing methods. Using a vintage Union Special machine to create a 4-needle flat seam construction that is not only labor-intensive, but requires experience and skill to produce the even seam construction seen throughout these latest offerings. The binder neck construction still allows for some give, but really minimizes the risk of eventual stretching along the seams of the mask. The thickness of the binder neck, cut in a curved fashion also maximizes coverage of the face, while also maintaining good structure.
To date, every "Made in Japan" mask we've seen features the use of imported elastic band that wraps around the ear to secure the mask in place. Loop & Weft went the extra mile and sought out the only place in Japan that produces all forms of rubberized bands, Ishikawa-ken. Whether it is the hair band for hair, the elastic band that goes around boxer briefs or in this case the rubber elastic drawstrings used in the construction of masks, if they are Made in Japan they are made in Ishikawa-ken. And these masks feature those drawstrings from Ishikawa-ken to complete a true Made in Japan piece.
Knitted in the knitwear capital of Japan, Wakayama, the face features square shaped waffle known as wire mesh while the inlay is a ribbed knit. The ribbed knit inlay was developed specifically for its soft and comfortable touch against the skin.

Care Guide:
1. Prior to use, please disinfect the mask by placing it in above 80°C (175°F) water for at least 20 minutes.
2. Place the mask in a mesh laundry bag and wash it in a washing machine. Alternatively, you may wash the mask by hand.
3. Remove the mask from the laundry bag and hang dry it to allow for the material to dry completely.
4. Use the mask, and ideally follow the steps above prior to each use to maximize efficiency toward virus protection.
