Often worn with suspenders, these early trousers laid much of the groundwork for what would eventually become the modern five-pocket jean. Historically cultivated in the Caribbean before being introduced to the coastal regions of the United States, Sea Island Cotton earned a reputation as one of the finest cottons available. Following devastating pest damage, American cultivation effectively ceased in 1922, before being revived in 2017, nearly a century later.\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cspan\u003eWhat makes this particular fabric especially interesting is its colour. Rather than being dyed brown, the canvas retains the natural colouring of the raw American Sea Island Cotton itself.
