While the world has come to know Maguro (Bluefin Tuna) as one of the most revered fish in Japan and the world thanks to its popularity in sushi and sashimi, the Katsuo (Skipjack Tuna) still maintains its status as one of the most important fish in the Japanese diet, used in a wide variety of dishes and one of the main ingredients of dashi stock.

Known for its unique color scheme, the fish can be identified by the lightening of Katsuo's body from back to belly. In a similar fashion, SDA has used a combination of dark and light indigo fabrics to mimic the characteristics of the Katsuo fish.

Taking cues from yukata garments worn in the Edo period, each sashiko stripe pattern is accentuated by the two-tone scheme of the fabric, giving it an almost scaly-looking face. This in tandem with the beefy dobby-weave fabric brings out texture, unlike anything we have seen until now.

*Model is pictured wearing a size 40. He weighs 59kg (130 pounds) and is 178cm (5’11”) tall.
