NC in the model name stands for, "No Change". This is in reference to the unique selvedge denim which preserves the original black color, and is able to withstand the undesirable color fading common with other black denim. Now the color will not stay solid black forever, and over time and with multiple washes will loose some of its depth of color. But they will not turn white or gray, as is common with most black dyed denim jeans. Thus, we refer to this pair as the 'black out' jeans.
The use of Indanthrene dye in this model is what gives the jeans the resilient black color. Indanthrene is a water-insoluble dye commonly used while dyeing cotton, but is also used as pigment for certain premium paints. Pure Blue Japan have taken quality and durability of product to another level by selecting this particular dye which is commonly used in the manufacturing of military uniforms.
The stand out novelty and originality of this pair is that all the detailing and triming has been done in black, which make these the epitome of a pair of black jeans.
