Pure Blue Japan's classic, the XX-005 is the most recommended for a first time buyer by PBJ Owner, Iwaya-san. The fit is a true slim straight with a regular leg opening - a modern take on the classic regular straight silhouette. These are also available in both a Raw and One Wash fabric.

Like many of Pure Blue Japan's jeans, the fabric is of a low-tension shuttle loom, thus featuring the slubby and hairy feeling fabric common to Pure Blue Japan denim. Although this same model has been a part of the Pure Blue Japan collection for years now, the production of these jeans are constant through out every year because the production ouput of the fabric is very limited.

The uniqueness of the slubby denim fabric, coupled with the small-scale production method, make this perfect fitting jean by Pure Blue Japan a true classic.

It’s a good cut but I’d like to see a heavier weight denim w a tighter weave so there isn’t baggy knees and crotch on these. I like them after a soak though!

The team at Okayama Denim provides outstanding customer service and incredibly fast shipping. I originally purchased a pair of Momotaro jeans, which shipped promptly, but didn't fit well, so I returned them. I then ordered these beauties, which came in 2 days. The jeans are quite slubby with a nice texture. The attention to detail is evident and the quality is top notch. I had to wear them around the house a bit to break them in as they were tight in certain areas, but they're gradually stretching out. The indigo is a nice deep colour and they are very form fitting (and this is coming from someone who has quite an athletic build and large legs). I'll be ordering more stuff from OD as I see items that fit my body type in stock. Thanks again, Okayama Denim (and Ryo especially)!

The OD Team continues to offer the best products and phenomenal service, even during a global pandemic. - About the Jeans - I’ve owned a lot of Japanese denim over the years from a number of heavy-hitting and obscure brands, but these PBJs continue to blow me away. The texture of the fabric, the deceptive slub, and the richness of the indigo are phenomenal. And these aren’t even a “special” model! - About the Fit - As a bigger guy, I half expected to have issues with hip flare or tightness in the thighs, but the XX-005 is a perfect example of a modern slim-straight cut. - Who are these for? - If you’re looking to change it up from the ever-present tapered cuts without risking too wide a silhouette, and you have an appreciation for quality fabric, these are the jeans for you. - Who are these not for? - People with white furniture.
