Samurai are no strangers when it comes to delving deep into the realm of dyeing techniques and we have seen many past examples of their Natural Indigo & Sumi (to name a few) dyed jeans. In an exciting new development for Fall 2020, Samurai have created a proprietary 18oz. fabric, mixing in a small amount of their fabled "Homemade" cotton.
The concept of "Ai Plus" involves a special method to combine both synthetic and Natural Indigo to create a unique pigment of indigo while also allowing the yarns to be rope dyed. The resulting fabric face is a unique hue which cannot be achieved using synthetic dyes combined with a slubby, neppy texture that is simply made to be faded.
Going the extra mile, Samurai have also switched out their normal Lamé style Selvedge ID to one featuring the "Ai Plus" Indigo warp threads.
While the back pockets no longer feature Samurai's red rayon tag from previous special models, a new S∀MURAI tab is featured on the back right pocket which are also lined with custom "Ai Plus" jacquard fabric.
The silhouette is based off the previously released S5000VX, which is actually described as a Middle Straight. The cut has been adjusted to give a slightly narrower leg opening, but this is a fit we would be comfortable describing as right in between a Regular Straight and a Slim Straight pair. A comfortable top block, with a relaxed fitting leg, with a slight taper from the knee down to the hem.
