The sword-wielding folks over at Samurai have conjured up another seriously textured pair of jeans, dyed in Natural Kakishibu. The entire process involves extracting the juice from fermented Kakishibu (Persimmon fruit) in order to create the natural brown colored dye. Given the labor intensive process of dyeing the yarns in a natural dye like Kakishibu, only a small production lot of these exclusive jeans are able to be produced.
Kakishibu is a versatile dye - the most interesting aspect of its patina progression is the fact that as indigo jeans usually fade with wear, Natural Kakishibu dyed garments like these jeans in question, will actually get darker with extended wear.
One special property of naturally dyed Kakishibu fabrics is its reactivity to sunlight, which results in the brown hue deepening over time in an uneven fashion depending on the level of exposure to UV rays.
Samurai have carefully selected a combination of twisted no. 5 warp and no. 6 weft yarns, which result in the slubby and streaky 17oz. denim. The skein dyed yarns produce a fabric that hits some beautiful light brown hues, expected to patina beautifully over time.
The 3mm cowhide leather patch features one of Japan's most prolific Shoguns, Tokugawa Ieyasu, observing Kakishibu fruit growing in a garden at the famous Toshogu Shrine in Nikko.
A combination of Red and Silver Lamé threads were selected as the Selvedge ID for this limited model.
Gold "Matsunoki" buttons adorn the selvedge constructed fly to complete the premium aesthetic of the S5000KA-II Jeans.
