Loop & Weft once again delivers a standout piece for 2025 that features construction and details that stay true to their simple creed of "Best Knitwear in Japan". This thermal features a proprietary thermal fabric woven entirely from recycled Supima cotton, an ultra-long staple fiber that accounts for less than 1% of the world’s cotton production. Renowned for its silky luster, natural oil content, and gentle resilience, Supima imparts a suppleness that caresses the skin while maintaining durability far beyond that of standard cotton.

Whereas typical thermals employ a standard waffle knit, Loop & Weft have pushed further, adopting a large-pattern “long honeycomb” structure. This expanded cellular weave traps layers of warm air while maintaining breathability, offering insulation that adapts seamlessly to fluctuating climates. The result is a fabric that feels substantial yet dry to the touch, layering easily without bulk, and aging gracefully into a lived-in softness with repeated wear and washing.

The design is based on military thermal from the 1960s, and come in both crewneck and henley neck motifs. The design recreates classic details such as the woven placket with staggered stitching, durable 2-needle binder neck construction, vintage ribbed cuffs, cat eye buttons and a rounded lock hem. The sewing is done with 4-needle flat seams, which require skilled techniques to flatten the unevenness of the seam allowance. This time-consuming sewing method further enhances the atmosphere and comfort of this classic undershirt.  

The silhouette is a basic regular fit with a good amount of room in the body and armholes, and can be worn alone or as an inner layer.
