The OD+JB 18oz. "Kaijin Slub" Selvedge Jeans

The Last Dance

The 18oz. OD+JB series has been a mainstay of the ODJB series, and makes up a core of our OD+ offerings since we first introduced the Sapphire Slub’s back in April, 2016.

Fast forward almost seven years and we’ve recently received some unfortunate news from the factory responsible for weaving our slubbed out OD+JB 18oz. Selvedge fabric. Having been strained from the start of COVID with the lack of new seamstresses entering the production line, rising raw material costs and serious supply chain setbacks have amounted to the recent shuttering of the weaving mill we were using with Japan Blue to make this textured OD+JB selvedge series.

So while we are working closely with the fam over at Japan Blue to create something special again from the yarn up, the current OD+JB series which have included the Sapphire Slub, Midnight Slub, Wine Weft, Sand Slub, etc. will be phased out of our core OD+ line up after the final current Selvedge margins we have sitting in storage are sewn.

In the case of this latest restock of the Kaijin’s we had a final five rolls (50 meters a piece) of denim left of this specific OD+JB Selvedge, of which we have managed to produce 98 pairs of jeans. This will be the final run of our ODJB017 Kaijin’s. Thank you all for the love you've shown all the jeans over the years, we are nothing but humbled by all the support you guys have given our longstanding OD+JB 18oz. Series.

The OD+JB 18oz. "Kaijin Slub" Selvedge Jeans - $195 USD

Historically, Japanese mythology has revered many deities of the sea both in Shinto and Buddhist circles. For instance in Shintoism, Susanoo (スサノオ, is heralded as the deity of the sea and storms with stories portraying him as a multifaceted deity exhibiting both good and bad characteristics. For instance, while some folklore regarded his somewhat petulant and short-tempered nature the catalyst of violent storms at sea, contradictory tales of heroism including one such story of a sea serpent being slain at his hands link him to fruitful crop harvests in Japan.
Featured in a sanforized 18oz. denim fabric milled by the crew over at Collect, the jeans are cut in JB's High Tapered silhouette which offer ample room in the rises and thigh but maintain a clean modern taper in the leg. Thematically sticking to the color of the weft, the light blue tone stitching can been seen at various points of the jeans.
Complete with all original JB hardware, the OD+JB vat dyed extra thick Tochigi Leather Cowhide waistband leather patch once again makes a welcome return.
For that little detail to keep for yourself, we opted for 6oz. Indigo Oxford fabric pocket bags which we hope you will enjoy the fading process of as much as the jeans!

The restock for the OD+JB 18oz. "Kaijin Slub" Jeans drops on 2/10 @ Midnight (JST)
