An OD+SDA Collaboration | The "Kasezome" Indigo x Dorozome Sashiko Selvedge Bomber Jacket

At the nexus of tradition and innovation lies our latest collaboration with Studio D'Artisan: the OD+SDA "Kasezome" Indigo x Dorozome Sashiko Selvedge Bomber Jacket.
For those acquainted with SDA's legendary "Kasezome" Sashiko fabric, the journey continues with this exceptional piece. This fabric isn't just any cloth; it's a proprietary Sashiko weave built from the ground up in collaboration with SDA. Since its inception, the Kasezome series has woven its way into the fabric of our collaborative spirit, becoming a staple in our repertoire. We embarked on this venture back in Fall 2020 with the original Indigo "Kasezome" Selvedge Bomber Jacket, and now, the saga continues with a fresh twist.

This time we feature the convergence of a skein-dyed Indigo warp with a mud-dyed weft that is a marriage of hues and heritage, evoking the essence of Japanese tradition. This latest iteration celebrates the Dorozome journey, a testament to the traditional dyeing methods that have been honed for centuries on the remote Japanese island of Amami-Oshima. Kasezome, the art of skein dyeing, breathes life into every thread, infusing them with the rich depths of Indigo. Each yarn bears the mark of meticulous craftsmanship, a testament to the hands that shape tradition. It’s important to note that, while the indigo yarns go through a semi automated process, the doors in the weave of this fabric are entirely dyed by hand, by the artisans in Amami Oshima.

The legacy of Dorozome runs deep, echoing the whispers of centuries past. From the shores of Amami-Oshima to the annals of history, the art of mud dyeing has stood the test of time. Following their takeover of the island in 1609, the ruling samurai sought to suppress the wearing of silk among the working class. As a result, a clandestine industry began to emerge. Enter Dorozome - the dye of defiance. Silk garments, discreetly dyed using the Dorozome method, became symbols of resistance, preserving the island's cultural heritage in the face of adversity .But our journey doesn't end there. In our pursuit of excellence, we've left no stone unturned. The jacket's inner sanctum is a testament to our commitment to craftsmanship. Inspired by vintage Sukajan, we've adorned the interior with a luxurious Rayon lining, a nod to tradition with a contemporary twist.

Crafted from a blend of 70% Rayon and 30% Cotton, the lining boasts a hue reminiscent of sand gold, a subtle yet sublime accent to the jacket's indigo exterior. Selvedge details adorn every corner, from the locker loop nestled within the collar to the inner chest pocket's discreet insignia. Even the zipper pull tabs exude sophistication, crafted from tanned cowhide leather and accented with a contrast gold zig-zag stitch detail. Every element, meticulously curated to embody the essence of excellence. Opting for a brown leather patch to match the pull tabs on the zipper, it is Nathan Spoor's stellar freehand artwork that truly complete an OD+ collaboration.

Owing to the tedious production nature of this fabric, this is the one and only time we are able to produce this limited run of the bomber jackets.

The OD+SDA "Kasezome" Indigo x Dorozome Sashiko Selvedge Bomber Jacket drops on 3/5 @Midnight (JST)
