Pure Blue Japan | The return of the 18oz. Indigo x Black Selvedge Jeans

Let's give the return of Pure Blue Japan's heavyweight 18oz. Selvedge Denim a bit of fanfare, it's been 2+ years after all. For anyone who has yet to experience the fading potential of this model, it's time to step up to the plate. PBJ plug the gap between Indigo and Black color jeans with killer execution. The stealth factor of these Jeans when new is unmatched, and the evolution that they go through over time earns itself a spot as one of our favorite models by the Slub Masters.

The PBJ 18oz. Indigo x Black Selvedge Denim - $315

The latest iteration of the epic 18oz. Slubby Selvedge by PBJ is comprised of a Deep Indigo warp and sulphur-dyed Black weft. While the fabric starts out as a blackish Midnight Blue, give it some wear and that super slub will start to rear its head along with the hues of indigo, as the fabric lightens in color.

In tandem with the fabric, expect the black-coated buttons to patina just as beautifully. As the coating starts to wear away, the shiny iron core will begin to reveal itself to compliment those killer fades.

Keeping the details stealthy, the black leather patch, tonal stitching and black indigofera leaf are the perfect combination for this already stellar pair of jeans.

The Slim Tapered Cut

PBJ's Slim Tapered -013 cut is aesthetically one of the most eye-pleasing silhouettes, period. Thanks to PBJ's keen eye on client feedback, the cut has seen numerous updates over the years to ensure that the silhouette doesn't cross the border into the "Skinny" realm.

For those of you with thunder thighs and glutes though, you might want to re-direct your eyes a little further down the page and check out the Relaxed Tapered cuts. Trust us when we say the rises are low, there won't be much wiggle room if you are used to a spacious top block.

The Relaxed Tapered Cut

We like to call this PBJ's "Best of both worlds" cut.

While don't need to be a weightlifter or a keirin cyclist to appreciate this silhouette, if you do have larger thighs or just fancy extra room in the top block while you're on the move, the -019 has your name on it.

The beauty of this cut is the taper is absolutely still part of the equation and the resulting aesthetic is well and truly clean and modern.
