The latest arrivals from Samurai Jeans

The star of the show here is the "Homemade" weft cotton composition which we first saw when Samurai introduced their "Ai Plus" series of jeans. A long-running project by the Samurai crew, the cotton is grown entirely from scratch on a farm owned by the team in the sleepy town of Sasayama, Hyogo. Going as far as to hand-pick the cotton themselves, this is a venture that Samurai are particularly proud of. Of course, the cotton yield is very small so to maximize production output for the Ecru Jeans, Samurai have opted to reserve this special yarn for the weft of the jeans. 

By tightly twisting the warp and weft yarns, Samurai achieve that textbook slubby and nep-heavy texture their jeans are known for. Furthermore, this texture is further accentuated thanks to the wash process that is performed. Trying these on for the first time, we were astounded how comfortable they were, despite clocking in at 18oz.

A mainstay in Samurai's lineup, the through-and-through utilitarian 15oz. Heavy Chino Pants finally come in a wider cut variant which is swiftly becoming the norm across the industry. 

Chino fabric weights tend to max out at around 12oz. but for Samurai, heavier is heaven. The SJ 15oz. series really ups the ante on the fabric scale, and comes in a military-esque hue of olive thanks to the sulfur dyeing process the brand employs. Also going through a wash process to minimize shrinkage, these pants are made to thrown on right out of the bag and given the Denimhead beatdown.
