Combining top-shelf functionality and a quintessentially Japanese aesthetic, we teamed up with our friends from Japan’s oldest down jacket company for this one. Designed through a traditional lens, the more loosely fitting silhouette of the Haori pairs wonderfully with the addition of Zanter's 800FP (Fill Power) down. Whether you rock it with just a tee indoors or if you're layering a hoodie underneath, this jacket provides versatility when it comes to styling while keeping you warm to the core.

We opted on selecting a traditional "Tateshizuku" (縦雫) or "Vertical Drop" pattern for the outer shell of the jacket. The pattern pays homage to Japan's rich history in Kasuri (or 絣) fabrics. While there are many varieties of Kasuri patterns, Ame Gasuri (Rain Kasuri) is renowned for its unique and intricate patterns that capture the essence of falling raindrops. It is created by using Kasuri threads only in the warp, allowing the weaver to craft irregular, broken straight lines that mimic the appearance of rain falling.

Featuring a Cobalt Blue 100% polyester lining, each jacket is fully reversible and packed with Zanter's high-quality 800FP down. Another proud first for us is the introduction of our custom-made embossed metal "OD" logo snap-button.

Zanter is heralded as the first brand to produce downwear in Japan. The first pieces were worn in 1956 by members of the Manaslu Expedition Corps as well as the Antarctic Observation Corps. Zanter has continued to produce the highest quality Japanese downwear by selecting only the finest materials and using well-honed production methods.

Locally sourced high-quality down feathers are extremely difficult to come by, at the most only 10g can be found on the chest area of a suitable Waterfowl. Thanks to Zanter’s umbrella company being one of Japan’s leading futon makers, the sourcing comes a bit easier given the longevity of their relationships in the business. The quality of feathers is also greatly affected by breeding method, environment and feed during infancy. These carefully selected feathers then go through a thorough process of washing, drying, dehydration, sterilization and dust removal which results in down that not only has excellent heat retention properties, but is also durable and sanitary.
