Big John's latest venture into summer shorts draw inspiration from 1930s vintage sports and shooting wear, taking the practical details and rugged character of early workwear and reworking them for modern everyday use. Rather than simply reproducing the past, Big John has retained the spirit of the original garments while giving the shorts a relaxed, contemporary silhouette that works particularly well in warmer weather.

The shorts feature a classic two-pleat front, with generous room through the waist and thighs creating a substantial, three-dimensional shape. The wide leg opening and slightly longer length balance the relaxed fit, giving them plenty of presence without feeling overly bulky. It is a distinctly workwear-inspired silhouette, but one that feels equally at home with a simple T-shirt, casual shirt, or your favourite pair of sneakers.

For the fabric, Big John has opted for a recycled T/C blend of polyester and cotton. Lightweight and durable with a dry hand, it retains the practicality expected of workwear while remaining comfortable during the warmer months. A garment wash has been applied to soften the fabric and remove the stiffness of a brand-new garment, giving the shorts a naturally broken-in feel from the outset.
