The cross design emphasizes vertical lines, creating a clean, beautiful shape for the feet. It holds the instep firmly in place, so the sandals stay secure even while walking. The minimalist fit lets the quality of the material speak for itself, adding an urban, relaxed feel.
The upper is made from supple, glossy, high-quality steer leather from Himeji. The part that touches the instep is left unlined, so the softness of the leather can be felt directly against the skin.
The insole is made from igusa (tatami rush), known for its moisture absorption and odor resistance, keeping feet comfortable all day even worn barefoot. The colored tatami is made by carefully dyeing natural igusa grass, with each stalk taking the dye a little differently, so subtle shades and natural gradation emerge. This depth of natural material is part of why these sandals grow more appealing the more they're worn.
