A storied Sashiko that draws its roots all the way back to the Tenmei era (1781-1789) of Japanese history, “Bushu” Sashiko is always dyed in Natural Indigo and produced in the cities of Hanyu & Kazo, in Saitama Prefecture. A double-weave Sashiko construction, the face of the fabric is a dark indigo (Kon in Japanese) and the inlay of the fabric features lighter indigo hue yarns (Asagi in Japanese). Featuring a shoulder panel, waistband and pocket bags all lined with a navy chambray, custom-engraved “Momotaro” metal buttons & hip pockets for maximum functionality, these heavyweight pieces are some of the heaviest examples of Indigo Sashiko we have seen to date.
