For our 19th collaboration with Studio D'Artisan, we set out on working with a color we have yet to explore in our ongoing journey of colored weft denim with the Osaka OG's. Purple also holds significant historical importance in Japan, as it was a color reserved only for royalty and the highest-ranking nobles of the imperial court. As such, it is a color often associated with power, prestige and royalty.

This collaboration started from the soul of any pair of jeans - the fabric. With this particular "G3" Selvedge denim produced on a Toyoda shuttle loom known as the G3, this shuttle loom is considered the first and finest example of a non-automatic changing shuttle on a Selvedge denim producing machine. It is thanks to the irregularity and slubbiness of this fabric that we were confident that the combination of indigo and purple would pop beautifully once dyed. Furthermore, the G3 series denim is packed with patina potential and has a proven track record of resulting in beautiful fades down the line.

For this venture, we are stoked to add a few original OD elements, which include the "OD" embossed metal button fly and a single silver "+" rivet featured at the fifth coin pocket. It also wouldn't be an OD+SDA project without the magician behind the pen - Nathan Spoor. Nathan's original hand-drawn artwork is not only featured on the flasher, but makes a well deserved appearance on the pocket bags, tote bag and sticker that this pair will ship with. 

We have also decided to try something different in terms of cut for this project, opting for SDA's "SD-102" silhouette. While their inline SD-102CB Jeans feature a metal cinch back, we have stripped this element while preserving the classic-inspired straight cut that these jeans are based off.

**Please note that this is an unsanforized pair of denim, and the raw version will shrink up to 10% with the first soak, and will then stretch out with wear.
