Featuring a relaxed top block, with an aggressive taper starting from above the knee, the Comfort Tapered cut was designed by Okayama Denim for Samurai Jeans. Imagine the top block almost as relaxed as a regular straight pair of jeans, with a combination of high rise & ample thigh room. With the taper starting from above the knee, the jeans slim down in the calves to a narrow leg opening.

The "Kuro" collaboration features Samurai's proprietary 17oz. Unsanforized Black x Black Selvedge seen in the S511NBK from their standard lineup. While the fabric is usually only offered in the One Wash option from Samurai, we opted for a raw rendition for the full size run.

Putting purity on a pedestal, Samurai uses only 100% Texas cotton for the fabric and construction threading of the jeans. As the denim is spun at a high tension, even post-soak/wash, these jeans will actually become even more stiff and the weave further tightened, resulting in a denim with unprecedented contrast and "atari" (fading) with wear.

Samurai is the standard. The kuro sammy + OD in tapered is my favorite cut/silhouette and the color is absolutely black out. The jeans are hall of fame :)

The cut, fit, and workmanship on these jeans are superb. I would love to thank Ryo and the staff at OD for the help and delivering an amazing collab. The jeans are a rich, deep black and the fabric has a crispness that will certainly allow the the jeans to age well. The attention to detail on he hardware and overall design is amazing! It took me a while to pull the trigger on these, but I’m very glad that I did. They’re comfortable, flattering and, in typical Samurai fashion, tricked out to the max. And the fades! The hidden arcs are beginning to fade in after just four wears (Samurai really needs to incorporate these on more of their jeans). Thanks to the folks at OD for the very quick hemming and shipping, and also for the extra item, courtesy of the Advent Calendar drawing. Happy New Year!

Fantastic pair of jeans. The collab cut on these is a huge perk - I've skipped on Samurai in the past due to the wider ankles on their usual pairs. The fabric is very unique. In a world full of super slubby and low-tension fabrics, this high tension, highly uniform fabric wears like a suit of armor. The details throughout, such as the proprietary rivets and buttons, the silver selvadge lines, the hidden arches, lined back pockets, and sashiko pocket bags really make these stand apart. Mine shrank roughly 1.5" in the waist and several inches in the inseam during a 30 minute hot soak, for reference. I measured accordingly, and now they fit perfectly!
