Studio D’Artisan’s Double Indigo Denim is a study in what happens when you give indigo a little more to work with.The series is inspired by the jeans of old America, particularly the dry, rugged denim and deliberately relaxed approach to construction found in vintage examples. Rather than pursuing the perfectly uniform finish of modern mass production, Studio D’Artisan embraces the small irregularities of older jeans, from subtle variations in stitching to slightly uneven finishing. These details give the denim a more natural, lived-in character from the beginning.Unlike conventional denim, where indigo is usually applied only to the warp, indigo yarns throughout the fabric let color develop in both directions as the jeans are worn in.

The result is a lightweight denim with considerably more depth to its ageing. As the fabric fades, the changing shades of indigo in the warp and weft begin to interact, creating richer contrasts and a more three-dimensional appearance than you would typically see in a conventional pair of jeans.
