The Flat Head's 12.5oz. Boa-lined Denim Jacket takes the familiar proportions of 1980s American denim outerwear and introduces a carefully considered combination of warmth, comfort and vintage character, without the bulk traditionally associated with heavily insulated jackets.The outer shell is constructed from 12.5oz. Zimbabwe cotton denim woven in a left-hand twill, a fabric chosen for its distinctive texture and pronounced vertical fading characteristics. Rather than leaving the denim completely raw, The Flat Head has applied a carefully controlled fading process to achieve the appearance of a naturally aged garment. Multiple rounds of testing were carried out to determine the ideal processing time, resulting in a balanced indigo tone that highlights the fabric's prominent twill lines while retaining plenty of potential for further aging.

The fading process also serves a practical purpose, helping to minimize indigo transfer onto the jacket's interior lining. A substantial boa fleece provides excellent insulation throughout the body, offering plenty of warmth without adding unnecessary weight. The sleeves take a different approach, incorporating insulated quilted lining that reduces friction against clothing worn underneath and allows for greater freedom of movement.Considerable attention has also been paid to the jacket's proportions. The body is cut slightly shorter than conventional winter outerwear, preventing the hem from bunching up when seated and reducing tension across the back. It's a small adjustment that makes a noticeable difference during everyday activities, particularly when driving or commuting.Generously sized slash pockets provide ample room for everyday essentials, including larger smartphones, while doubling as hand warmers during colder weather.
