Dreaming up new ways to elevate the Indigo dyed garment game is part of our ethos at OD. Thanks to Loop & Weft, purveyors of "Best Knitwear" in Japan, those dreams can turn to reality thanks to their cut-no-corners approach and meticulous nature when it comes to nailing each detail down to a T (pun intended!).
Cue the arrival of collaboration No. 6 with the Nara-based brand, which comes dripping in garment dyed Indigo, just in time for the brutal heat.
Starting with the fabric base, the heather slub knit fabric we have chosen to use for the base features that perfect combination of exceptional softness and irregularity in the weave.
This particular fabric is especially breathable and more than suitable for the upcoming dog days. Due to the irregularity of the heather yarns, contact with the skin is minimal to ensure a comfortable fit and feel over extended wear.
Starting out as a natural fabric base, each garment is tediously hand-dyed in indigo, multiple times, to ensure the correct amount of dye penetration occurs to achieve the deep hue of indigo featured on the tee.
Taking cues from a 1960s vintage American T-shirt, the neck, armholes and hem feature a custom binder milled ribbing, only made possible by adding a custom element to a vintage flat seamer machine to create the binder feature that elevates the life of the garment. The big advantage here is the added durability it provides over extended wear.
A Union Special 4-needle flat seamer machine commands all the seam construction, ensuring the utmost highest quality finish for each t-shirt.
Adding one last subtle touch of color to the tee was an element you have now come to expect from all our full OD+LW range, with the addition of the OD red stitching to the right side of the tee.
