An OD+TR Collaboration | The Heavyweight "Aizome" Ringer Tee

Our inaugural collaboration with Terroir is finally here, and celebrates the fruits of labor by a team of three people based in Fukuyama, Hiroshima. The Terroir team epitomizes the term "farm to garment", as their entire operation revolves around cultivating the Persicaria Tinctoria  plant in order to produce Sukumo,  which is transformed into a Natural Indigo dye base. The tedious process of seed to dye alone takes the better part of at least a year, and requires the constant hands-on attention by Terroir's team. What makes their operation even more special, is that the relatively young brand also produce their own garments using their farm-fresh Natural Indigo, and our Heavyweight "Aizome" Ringer Tee represents the beauty of Natural Indigo in the form of an everyday T-shirt.
The body is built from a loopwheel-knitted fabric using open-end air-spun yarn, a fabric that feels especially at home here alongside Terroir's equally slow and deliberate approach to dyeing. The open-end yarn gives the fabric a crisp, dry texture with a natural unevenness that keeps it comfortable and breathable even through warmer months. The collar and sleeve ribs are pre-dyed separately before construction, producing the tonal contrast of the ringer design through the inherent variation of Natural Indigo used within the tee. The chest pocket is cut from leftover fabric from the production of Terroir's standalone tee, a considered use of material that fits the brand's philosophy well. For peace of mind, the Natural Indigo-dyed portions of this tee have all undergone a thorough factory wash in order to eliminate bleeding onto the white fabric body.
