Endearingly referred to as "Wooly Pully" in England, many iterations of this sweater graced the back of countless British soldiers starting as early as it's introduction sometime pre-WWII.
These sweaters are produced by a single older gentlemen in his 70s, with decades of experience producing some of Japan's meticulously produced knitwear pieces out of a small factory near Yamanashi, Japan.
Details make us love a garment, and this piece falls nothing short of spectacular. The Lambswool itself is from Australia, sourced from the Australian city of Geelong (a rich pasture area along the Southeastern Coast of Australia renowned for it's prized Lambswool).
As the wool is derived from a baby lamb, the microns of the wool are extremely small which allow for an incredibly soft feeling and particularly warm knit - hence the description, extra fine Merino wool.
Based on a 1980s Commando Sweater motif, the raglan-sleeve design of these latest sweaters adds that well-needed ergonomic touch (historically, Commando Sweaters had a set-in sleeve construction).
Traditionally, patches were stitched into the shoulders and elbows to ensure the rigidness of the construction of each sweater
Loop & Weft have used a special knit to accentuate the reinforced construction style of these areas.
The crewneck versions of the sweaters are available in Gray, Navy and Brown.
Featuring intricately constructed ribbed sleeves, neckline and hem.
Also available as a turtleneck, the extra-long ribbed neckline was made to survive the coldest Winter days and nights.
