The recent waves of drops from a few of our favorite brands have certainly been keeping us on our toes, but we are delighted to announce a texture-heavy set of releases for this this week.
Coming in fresh from the Peach Boys is their latest twist to the classic 5-pocket jeans and jacket with their Kakishibu-dyed range for F/W 2024. A marriage of traditional dyeing methods & texture kicked into overdrive, Momotaro combine a lightweight 13.5oz. Selvedge Denim with one of the lightest hues of Kakishibu we have come accross. In order to produce the natural dye to achieve the perfect warm hue of brown, we turn once to the quintessential Japanese fruit, Kakishibu (persimmon fruit). Producing Natural Kakishibu dye is a notoriously slow process which starts with the harvesting of the unripe fruit during the Summer. The extracted juices must then undergo a one-year fermentation and storage process, in order to remove impurities such as organic acids prior to being refined as a dye.
Next up from Fullcount, we have their refreshing take on a classic vintage pattern - Wabash. Dropping in both a utilitarian chore jacket and work pants, Fullcount have opted for a corduroy fabric that has been dyed to indigo perfection and adorned with a Wabash stripe pattern. Utilizing indigo discharge dyeing, the pattern with the dotted white stripes are created on top of the indigo-dyed corduroy base fabric. First gaining popularity in the early 1900s for workwear clothing (popularized by famed shirting brand Stifel), Wabash patterns and styles have once again seen a surge in popularity in recent years.
Finally from the sworld-wielding brand, Samurai's latest venture into outerwear is a combination of both tailored and classic work style aesthetics. Made from a sturdy plain-weave oxford fabric, this blend of refined tailoring and practical workwear influences allows the jacket to easily complement different wardrobes, offering both durability and classic styling.
