With drops from Momotaro, Studio D’Artisan, Japan Blue and Samurai, plus a restock of a cult classic PBJ pair, it’s a heavy release to say the least.
Herringbone is the name of the game from the Peach Boys, with three new pieces all featuring the fabric.
With an indigo warp & weft yarn composition clocking in at approximately 10oz., making up the weave on the Momotaro Shirt, it’s the jacket where you’ll find that Selvedge ID featured on the Herringbone denim. Clocking in at a standard midweight 14oz. denim, the grain on the fabric of this unique Selvedge will yield some intense & high contrast fades with extended wear. Another shirting option going under that indigo-focused lens is Momotaro's prioprietary double-gauze Sashiko shirt. Double Gauze fabric, renowned for its loose weave, is a lightweight cotton textile. The fabric is generally textured while remaining breezy, soft and lightweight.
Also coming by way of the Japan Blue group, a highly textured cotton jersey indigo jacquard sweatshirt is the star of the show from the Japan Blue brand this season.
Joining the slew of drops for this week is one of our favorite pieces season on season from Osaka’s sword wielding brand, Samurai. A rare 8-panel crown with assorted Samurai denim fabrics make up the varying denim panels of this cap.
Fresh from the real Osaka OG’s, we’ve got a couple naturally occurring dyes featured on the new garment dyed Western shirt pieces gracing our curation. With both a Kakishibu (persimmon dyed) & Sumi (charcoal dyed) version, both iterations hit unique hues respectively given the garment dyed nature of the dyeing process.
Another banger for the books, SDA’s long awaited Sashiko denim is finally here, paying homage to the historical art of Sashiko by reimagining the coveted stitch in the form of this latest jacquard woven denim coming from the brand. Rounding off the offerings from the original Osaka 5 brand, we’ve got a couple colorful cotton base knit beanies to give your Fall fits a little splash of bold color.
Restocking this week, and one of those pairs that first really put PBJ on the map as an international player, the 13.5oz. LHT (left hand twill) Selvedge from the Slub Masters is one of those pairs that deserves a solid spot in Japanese denim history.
