The Flat Head's flagship 14.5oz. Selvedge Denim is the product of founder Masayoshi Kobayashi's vision of producing a denim that would result in high-contrast fades down the line. "Doshaburi" translates to "downpour" in English and embodies the unique raindrop-like fading character of these jeans, due to the pronounced vertical weave of the Zimbabwean-cotton fabric. This is only possible due to the denim being produced on vintage shuttle looms that are able to tediously mill this fabric over time.

Whereas most denim is woven in a Right Hand twill fashion, Lee introduced the Left Hand Twill (LHT) weave in the mid-20th century, setting their jeans apart from Levi’s and other competitors. The diagonal weave of LHT denim twill runs in the opposite direction, producing denim that feels smoother to the touch. Furthermore, this denim develops a distinct vertical fading pattern, and softens dramatically with wear.

The jeans feature a long set of rises providing ample room in the crotch area and wider straight cut legs to emphasize comfort for the wearer.
