These jeans are garment-dyed using a botanical dyeing technique, with bamboo charcoal as the dye source. Known in Japan as something of a wonder material, bamboo charcoal has been prized for centuries for its remarkable properties. The dyeing process results in a rich, dark tone described as "light black," a colour that carries a subtle warmth and complexity not found in synthetic dyeing methods. Because this is a botanical rather than a chemical dye, the colour interacts with the cotton in a more organic way, meaning each pair carries its own subtle variation and will continue to develop character with wear.

Beyond the aesthetic, bamboo charcoal as a material carries well-documented functional qualities.
