The cities of Himeji and Tatsuno in Hyogo Prefecture are famous for producing the largest amount of leather goods in Japan. The production of leather materials has been a traditional industry since the Kamakura period (1185-1333) , with more than 200 factories, both large and small recognized for producing some of the highest quality leather in the world. Big John have only sourced the 4mm leather used for this belt from Himeji, the Brass buckle is also hand made using traditional methods.
