This is simply put, the heaviest tee we have ever carried. The fabric is knitted on a vintage loopwheel machine using a tube-knit construction, meaning the body is a seamless cylinder with no side seams. To reach this 20oz. weight, the knitting tension is pushed as far as the machine will allow, packing the stitches as tightly as physically possible while retaining the slow, low-tension character of loopwheel production. The result is a fabric with a weight and density that has to be felt to be understood.

The yarn itself is an air-spun thread, a process that uses vortex air pressure to apply twist to a thick-count yarn. This gives the surface a firm, slightly crisp texture while the core of the yarn remains soft and airy, creating a unique hand that starts structured and breaks in beautifully with wear. The combination of an extreme-density loopwheel fabric and an air-spun yarn produces something that sits in its own category.

The neckline stitching uses Flat Head's signature "three-needle, one-off" technique, a method that is central to the brand's T-shirt construction and considerably more demanding to execute on a fabric this thick and stiff. No. 20 cotton thread is used throughout, but the density of the fabric makes tension regulation genuinely difficult, raising the risk of thread  and needle breakage at every pass. Even experienced craftsmen take significantly longer than usual to complete each piece.
