While preserving the classic aesthetics of the traditional Japanese Haori, we made a few adjustments to the construction to enhance the wearability of the garment. By combining a classic set-in front with a raglan back sleeve construction, the Haori maintains its sharp silhouette from the front while allowing greater freedom of movement and comfort through the back and arms. Two details we have integrated from past OD+ projects make a welcome appearance in this piece. Feeling more like an outerwear piece than a layer option, the inclusion of the hand warmer pockets lined with our favorite liner fabric from Osaka-based Hokkoh, the Sukajan specialists, give this a true jacket feel. It also wouldn't be an OD piece without our custom hardware and in this case, we feature a single "OD" embossed snap-button at the front which is a departure from the traditional drawcord closure often seen in traditional Haoris. Finally, we breathe new life into vintage kimono fabrics that we have collected in the past by custom producing both a woven tab and collar label that are featured on each piece.
