New brand alert! | Introducing Soundman

New year, new brand. Our first addition to the OD roster for 2026 is Soundman, a through-on-through Japanese menswear brand rooted in thoughtful reinterpretations of classic British and American work, military and sportswear. Founded in 1999 by designer Chihiro Imai, Soundman explores what it means to make garments that are cool without compromise, blending 20th-century detail with a modern perspective. Their pieces aren’t trend-driven; they’re expressions of things they genuinely love, crafted with meticulous attention in Japan and deeply inspired by vintage influences from the 1930s through the 1960s. The brand’s ethos of “stylish low-tech clothes” captures the essence of heritage garments while giving them a life of their own in the present day.
For our initial launch, we have selected four pieces that best introduce the Soundman philosophy. The "Swinger" Random Pique Sports Jacket reworks mid-century sportswear into a sharp, wearable silhouette with utilitarian touches that feel functional rather than decorative. The "Clarke" Officer Trousers take cues from British military officer uniforms, combining a pleated top block with a refined taper that walks the line between heritage and contemporary daily wear. Alongside these are two indigo-infused Sashiko outerwear pieces. The "Marshall" USN Jacket channels naval coverall influences through rugged construction and practical detailing, while the "Fender" Engineer Jacket draws from classic British engineer jackets with subtle tailoring and an understated presence. Together, these pieces reflect Soundman’s ability to blend British and American vintage with Japanese fabrics and precision, resulting in garments that feel quietly distinctive and built to age gracefully.

The Soundman launch collection drops on 2/13 @ Midnight (JST)
