Combining two distinctly different fabrics in a single reversible design, the Coop Design Store Military Tent Cloth Reversible Bucket Hat brings together lightweight denim from Okayama and authentic French military deadstock fabric, offering a distinctive interpretation of a classic casual accessory.
The military side is constructed from deadstock French Army tent cloth, featuring a muted olive color and the naturally weathered character of traditional military textiles. The fabric's irregular slub yarns create a subtly uneven texture, lending the material a rugged, antique appearance that reflects its utilitarian origins. An original aluminium button from the tent cloth is also incorporated into the design, preserving a small but distinctive piece of its military heritage.
On the reverse, the hat features lightweight denim woven in Okayama, Japan. Soft and comfortable from the outset, the denim gradually becomes more supple and familiar with continued use, developing a character of its own over time. A woven label around the crown adds a subtle touch, offering a slightly different expression from the tent cloth side.
The design takes inspiration from a children's hat produced by a traditional American clothing brand, with the proportions thoughtfully adjusted for adult wear. The brim retains a classic, versatile width, while the crown is made slightly shallower to create a comfortable, understated silhouette that pairs naturally with casual clothing.
Each hat is carefully produced at a longstanding hat factory in Tokyo's Taito district, an area renowned for its tradition of small-scale manufacturing and craftsmanship.
