In the process of spinning yarn from cotton, a significant amount of waste is generated, commonly referred to as "cotton slubs." These cotton slubs pose challenges as they are irregular in shape and make yarn production difficult. Historically, these cotton slubs were often discarded as they were considered unusable.
However, Studio D'Artisan has taken an innovative approach to sustainability by upcycling these cotton slubs. Instead of being wasted, the irregular cotton slubs are collected and reprocessed into usable yarn. This recycled yarn is then woven into sustainable denim fabric, giving new life to what was once considered waste.
One of the remarkable aspects of this recycled cotton denim is the inherent irregularities in the fabric. The cotton slubs, being of different sizes and shapes, create a natural, unique texture. The irregularities in the fabric result in a vintage-like appearance that is distinctive and charming.
By utilizing cotton slubs in this manner, Studio D'Artisan has taken a significant step towards sustainable fashion, offering denim enthusiasts the opportunity to enjoy a one-of-a-kind, environmentally conscious, and earthy textured denim experience.
