Right in time for outerwear season, we're stoked to bring back a limited run of our collaboration with the Osaka OG's, featuring their proprietary "Noragi Sashiko" fabric that we fell in love with last year at SDA's S/S 2021 exhibition. Following up from our previousIndigo "Kasezome" Selvedge Bomber Jacket project which we launched back in 2020, we felt that a fabric this unique and special would be the perfect match for our second outerwear collaboration with the brand.

The Noragi Sashiko Fabric

The "Noragi Sashiko" was developed by SDA to pay homage to a bygone era of traditional garb, when Japanese garments were worn to the point of falling apart, before being carefully stitched together again using any spare fabrics available in a general fashion that has come to be known as "boro". Featuring a unique jacquard weave to exemplify the varying hues of indigo blue which are featured in an irregular box check motif, the vertical Sashiko stripes seek to recreate the beautiful and meticulously stitched fabrics of the past.

Blending function and aesthetic

It is the combination of function and aesthetic that drove the creative narrative for this outerwear project. Sticking with classic bomber jacket cues, we have used a two-way UNIVERSAL® Gold Zipper fly featuring natural cowhide leather pull tabs.
Each pull tab features contrast zig-zag stitching in a burgundy red, to match the blood red inlay. Another minute detail that may be missed upon initial inspection is our design decision to opt for a green color zipper tape, an addition we felt helped blend beautifully with the Noragi Sashiko base fabric.

Digging into the details

The 70% Rayon / 30% cotton Sukajan (Souvenir Jacket) lining featured in both the body and hand-warmer pockets was another design element we loved & reverted to. After playing with a variety of liner colors on numerous samples, we settled on a Blood Red liner, a color that complimented the blue hues of the Noragi Sashiko outer perfectly.
Opting for a natural leather patch to match the leather pull tabs on the zipper, it is Nathan Spoor's stellar freehand artwork that truly complete an OD+ collaboration.
The acrylic cuffs, hem and neckline add that well-needed elasticity to ensure the conformity of the jacket to your body over a long period, helping to maintain shape even after extended wear.
Model is pictured wearing a size 38. He weighs 59kg (130 pounds) and is 178cm (5’11”) tall.
