Loop & Weft's new S/S 2023 collection hits the ground running with the first arrivals for Spring from Japan’s “Best Knitwear”. These pieces showcase the impressive level of craftsmanship and attention to detail we have come to expect from the brand, with unique textures and classic styling that are sure to elevate your wardrobe.
What is distinctly unique about Loop & Weft's latest Herringbone pile fabric that it is made from cotton jersey instead of cotton twill? The fabric is constructed using a special machine that changes the direction of the herringbone, resulting in a texture that is equal-parts classic and modern. The Bunnenshi (Zero Twist) yarn used in its construction is a machine-straightened yarn that increases durability and longevity. Each garment is constructed with only two layers of this fabric, which make them lightweight and breathable compared to traditional sweatshirts which feature three layers.
Inspired by vintage wool sweaters, the new crewnecks and cardigans feature a raglan sleeve construction for that well-needed ergonomic factor. The time-consuming and tedious two-needle flat seamer construction ensures that each piece retains its shape over time. The back yoke is also rounded, adding to the ergonomic design of these tops. The cardigans purposely do not feature pockets on the hips, making them a versatile product for all seasons and allowing for layering. The shawl collar is made with the same fabric as the inner, making it smaller than usual to give it a multi-season feel. Let's not forget the classic two-hole cats eye buttons that add a touch of elegance to complete this piece.
Featured in three colors including a new addition to Loop & Weft's color palette - Turquoise, the crewneck variant is essentially a reimagined sweatshirt retaining construction cues taken from wool sweaters. One standout detail in particular is the shorter ribbing which was purposely done to emphasize this type of styling.
