New brand alert! | Introducing Omoto Denim

Every now and then, a new denim brand appears that doesn’t feel the need to shout about itself. No flashy gimmicks, no absurd social media theatrics - just the quiet confidence that if you make something properly, people will notice. Omoto Denim, our latest addition to the OD roster, is precisely that sort of brand.

Hiroki Kishimoto

A fresh arrival out of Kojima to most eyes, Omoto Denim is actually well over 30 years in the making. How is that possible for a brand that just launched last year, one may ask? The answer lies in the founder of this newcomer brand to the scene, Hiroki Kishimoto. A seasoned veteran in all things denim twill, Kishimoto-san started his career out all the way back in 1992 at the Collect Mill in Kojima, Okayama as a sales agent for the company. Over time, his experience at Collect led him to develop proprietary denim twill for some of the most coveted labels coming out of the Land of the Rising Sun since the 90s, including A Bathing Ape’s Made in Japan Selvedge denim series to name one example. Following this tenure and spending years shaping Japan Blue Jeans(amongst other brands) and navigating the world of Selvedge with dedication and flair, Kishimoto-san decided it was time to create something quieter and more personal. Omoto Denim is his way of stripping things back to the essentials: great fabrics, thoughtful fits, and a philosophy that respects both tradition and the wearer’s journey.

The name "Omoto" comes from a resilient Japanese plant that carries on growing with very little fuss. It’s an apt choice, because the denim is designed in much the same way: not fragile fashion pieces, but durable companions that improve the longer you live with them. Think less “showpiece” and more “old friend”.

At the heart of Omoto is the denim which has been milled on vintage Sakamoto looms from the 1950s. The fabric is comprised of a bi-blend of Memphis and Zimbabwean cotton, an amalgamation of toughness and softness. The resulting denim bursts with texture and has a crisp hand feel. Rope-dyed in pure indigo, the warp yarns exhibit a deep blue hue with the core remaining undyed to guarantee beautiful fading down the line. The jeans are sensibly cut with three variations of a straight cut ranging from wide to just a touch slim.

Supporting this lineup of Omoto's denim we also welcome in a curation of the brand's tops and accessories that are infused with their sensible design philosophy, unbeatable construction and great fabrics to boot.

The Omoto Denim launch collection drops on 8/28 @ Midnight (JST)
