As summer fades and cooler air settles in, it's time for layering season—fall. To kick things off, we’ve rounded up some warming pieces from two powerhouses of Japanese denim: Samurai and Japan Blue.
First up from Samurai are the rugged 17oz S5100VX straight-fit selvedge jeans. With heavyweight stitching, bronze buttons engraved with "Samurai" kanji, and distinctive red-and-silver selvedge detailing, these jeans are perfect for the season. They’re built to last and ready for anything fall throws your way. Along with the jeans, Samurai offers a naturally-dyed pastel yellow chambray shirt featuring matching side gussets and chainstitch runoff—a subtle but standout addition to any wardrobe.
Japan Blue steps in strong with their own lineup, including two new shirts, three sweatshirts, and even a coat. Leading the charge is their balmacaan coat. The balmacaan coat is named after an area in the Scottish highlands and derives from a trench coat design. With a traditional back vent, oversized hidden resin buttons (except the top one), and raglan sleeves, this 12oz indigo-dyed tweed denim piece brings rugged style with its beautifully textured neppy fabric.
On the sweatshirt front, Japan Blue offers choices in herringbone tweed denim, cross sashiko, and patchwork sashiko, each with its own unique twist.
Finally, rounding things out is a sulphur-dyed, long-sleeved check shirt in blue and gray. Made from a soft 6oz. Fabric, it’ll keep you comfortable no matter the climate.
