In an ongoing pursuit of Kaizen, or continual improvement, Gazoo Racing is the high-performance arm of Toyota responsible for its motorsports activities under the GR-branded moniker. The name “Gazoo” is a combination of the two Japanese words Gazou (picture) & Gareiji (Garage). This visionary division of Toyota was originally the brainchild of Akio Toyoda, grandson of the founder of Toyota Motor Company, Kiichiro Toyoda.
Gazoo Racing continues its pursuit of making ever-better cars through the discipline of motorsport. The process of running, breaking, and rebuilding strengthens both machines and their makers, and their proven track record across multiple racing disciplines is proof of this unwavering passion for peak performance. That same spirit of relentless improvement meets the craftsmanship of Master-piece in this first collaboration between the two brands.
This collection transforms high-performance automotive materials into functional everyday carry gear. The main fabric is upcycled from the suede-like seat material used in the GR Yaris and GR Corolla, developed by Aunde Spinning Co., Ltd. for Toyota vehicles. It combines an exceptionally soft hand with high durability and meets the demanding standards for flame resistance, lightfastness, weather resistance, and abrasion strength required for motorsport applications.
Through Toyota Boshoku’s RE:TERRACE upcycling program, surplus seat materials originally intended for disposal have been reborn as the foundation for this series. The collaboration unites sustainable design with precision engineering and Master-piece's bagmaking expertise.
Each piece is detailed with Gazoo Racing’s signature red accents, from the interior 420d nylon lining to the collaborative GR brand label. The exterior leather nameplate base and detachable hook buckle system, finished in GR red, reference the sharp visual identity of the brand. The detachable metal hook allows customization with alternate color parts, while an interior resin carabiner keeps small essentials like keys secure and accessible.
