Hard to believe this is close to our 20th collaboration with Momotaro, and yet it will be our first foray into Selvedge denim with the Peach Boys. It goes without saying, we had to make sure we came up with something special. The latest proprietary Selvedge is composed of 100% Zimbabwe cotton, renowned for it's super soft feel when spun into denim, given it's long-staple fibre nature. Taking a step away from the standard offerings typically being released by Momotaro, we want to pack our proprietary denim to the brim with texture. 

Similar to the "Dog Days" denim that we released this past summer, we opted for a Nep heavy yarn to use in both the warp and the weft, to maximize the nep aesthetic and hand feel of the new denim. The result was mesmerizing during sampling, and the ideas for the rest of the jeans started to run wild once we got our hands on the first fabric swatch. 

With the fit, we've been really digging the 0105sp, but knew we wanted to change a few things about that popular cut from Momotaro. Without totally gutting the original, we gave several more inches in the length to suit the tall brethren, made the entire top block roomier across the board, and went a touch more aggressive in the taper to yield a narrower leg opening.

The details is where we got to get creative, and the combination of inputs led to a truly distinctive and unique pair of jeans. Starting with the detail that is eponymous to MJ, the biggest identifying factor of a pair of Momotaro's in the wild, the painted lines. Taking the standard white lines that were painted onto the first sample, we sent the jeans back to the factory in order to get the lines painted over a second time in a dark indigo blue. It comes down to patina, and because it has yet to be done, we wanted to see how the blue would fade into white in tandem with the fades appearing on the denim itself.

With the pocket bags, we took the standard Momotaro Jacquard Crest pocket bags and gave them the garment dye treatment in both Kakishibu & Indigo, respectively. Always suckers for the natural dyes, we wanted something mind blowing to keep up with the integrity of our proprietary Nep Selvedge, and the alternate natural garment dye pocket bags fit perfect into our design equation.

During the design process, we the winter theme we wanted some sort of cold weather element to be a part of the final product. While the superfluous Nep made the naming process a no-brainer with this pair, it is the back & fifth pockets that are lined with a brushed Flannel fabric that complete the Arctic feel. Not only do they serve a function of providing warmth, the brushed nature of the flannel makes for very smooth entry/exit by hand. Borrowing the copper buttons from the Copper Label series, and rivets from the classic Going to Battle series, we really tried to encompass the different layers of the MJ brand identity while ensuring that the final result was a quintessentially OD product.

**A shrink test of this pair yielded limited shrinkage as the fabric is Sanforized.
