A proprietary development for S/S ’21 by L&W, this collaboration features a Heather Slub cotton jersey knit, a highly textured and irregular weave. The irregular weave minimizes contact upon the skin when worn, and allows for the fabric to maintain maximum breathability. Paying homage to a 1960s vintage American T-shirt, the neck and hem feature a binder milled ribbing to ensure durability and shape through repeated wear.
Applying a combination of rare knitting techniques to bring this piece to fruition, both the fabric weaving and garment construction of this tee occur in Wakayama, Japan. A Union Special 4-needle flat seamer machine commands all the seam construction, while the vintage-inspired cuff construction completes the detail-driven focus that all Loop & Weft garments have become renowned for.
The process starts with a natural cotton heather base, with the tees then garment dyed by hand, one piece at a time. A combination of the irregular nature of the fabric and the heather nature of the base fabric, results in the penetration of indigo in a variegated fashion, celebrating a range of indigo-dyed hues.
