Outfit of the Day in July

July 31, 2014

Hot does not begin to describe the weather out in Japan this summer. Sweltering is a more apt word to describe the heat. So with that, we have mostly been hanging out in shorts, desperate for air conditioning. But mixing some pants in for the breezy evenings is always fun, and this month we bring you our favorite look for the summer.

Starting from the ground up, we chose to use a pair of dead stock Made in the United States Converse Chuck's from the early 90s, just before they moved production to China. We found these at Inspiration LA 2013, a solid pick for a bargain. Next we have Anchor inspired socks by the Japanese sock brand, Tabio, who are finally gaining recognition abroad and actually just opened a store in Paris! We also chose a special beaded bracelet made in Bizen, Okayama, an area renowned for their traditional Japanese pottery known as Bizen-yaki. The beads were crafted from clay and baked, the same way pottery is made in this region.

The main pieces of the outfit though, and of course the pants and tee. This popular t-shirt, the Pure Blue Japan Indigo Border Tee has been stocked by us since it first came out in 2012, and normally sells out soon after we restock each season. We just received a fresh delivery of these, including a size 5 (XL) which was just included in the lineup by PBJ this year! Other pieces from our website include the subtle Desert Camo Pants by Japan Blue, which pairs beautifully with the camo kicks.

Additionally, we have the Japan Blue iPad or Macbook Air case, which can also double as a classic A4 size document holder. The belt, crafted from the famed Tochigi Leather factory in Japan, provides the functionality of a good belt while also delivering the high quality we have come to expect from Made in Japan products. The belt, with its heavyweight brass fastener, will be available in Natural, Chocolate (Shown), and Black leather. These three Japan Blue items will be available in August, online at OkayamaDenim.com.

To pair with our favorite denim products, we include the versatile Natural leather card holder by Il Bisonte and a Denim Chart Bandanna also by Japan Blue.
