Momotaro's new Indigo Kasuri Sashiko fabric for S/S'21

Coming in fresh off the press for S/S'21, the Peach Boys bring a fabric that just ticks all the pertinent boxes. Intricately dyed in indigo, the Kasuri Sashiko fabric hits beautiful variegated hues, which in tandem with the meticulous construction of each garment have us besotted with the latest development by Momotaro.

Kasuri (or 絣) is the Japanese term for a fabric that has a color range of dyed fibers to create patterns and images within a textile. It is similar to Ikat dyeing, a form of resistance dyeing. Ikat is the predecessor to Kasuri techniques and was first develop during the reign of the Ryukyu Kingdom (modern day Okinawa), around 1200AD.

The first of two items featuring this fabric, the work shirt motif is perfect for those who want that balance between a familiar “Western” style and a unique fabric.

The added contrast provided by the resin buttons on the opening and cuffs truly elevate this superb piece to new heights.

For those who are looking for something a little different to add to your wardrobe, the Indigo Kasuri Sashiko Haori combines both a great looking fabric and a truly Japanese styled garment.

The addition of a gusset at the sleeve opening is a welcome touch to this particular Haori, adding yet another element of styling flexibility in what is otherwise a very clean looking piece.

As we have come to expect from Momotaro, construction is always second-to-none for each of their garments and even with a simple piece such as this Haori we were more than pleased to discover the addition of piping in the inner layer, normally reserved for the likes of tailored jackets and coveralls.
