Roaster Atelier in Daikanyama : Slayer Espresso Machine in Tokyo!

November 20, 2014

Coffee nerds everywhere, rejoice. The newest addition to Tokyo’s ever-growing coffee culture might just be your new, go-to spot.

Roaster Atelier accomplishes what most coffee places try (and fail) to do. A 3-story building that’s 5 minutes away from Daikanyama Station, Roaster Atelier roasts their own coffee beans from all over the world on the first floor, make your drinks on the second, and provide a clean and minimalistic drinking area on the third. Its glass windows overlook cute, vintage stores outside and complete the wood finishings and design inside and outside the establishment.

Roaster Atelier sits next door to French clothing label, Brú Na Bóinne, on a quiet side street in Daikanyama

Beans are available for purchase on the ground floor

Their drinks are professionally made using the latest and greatest equipment in the coffee world: a Giesen Coffee Roaster for their beans and a Slayer Espresso Machine for the drinks. As I sit here, writing up this review and eyeing the seasoned coffee-maker give lessons on French Press coffee on the third floor; the coffee arrives from the second floor. Rich, nutty, and not too over-powering, my double-shot, iced latte might be the best thing I’ve drank since coming to Japan.

To sum it up, Roaster Atelier is THE spot for a damn good espresso in Tokyo. It's gorgeous store design, interesting 3-part construction, and delicious coffee make Roaster Atelier a stand-out.
