The latest arrivals by Studio D'Artisan

The start of August brings a welcomed arrival of a freshly conjured pair of jeans, that has been given that naturally occurring colored weft love by the SDA team. The latest "Cherry Blossom" Selvedge Jeans feature a subtle pink weft, with the dye itself being derived from Sakura tree bark. In order to achieve the delicate hue, the bark must be obtained prior to the blossoming of the Sakura in Spring. Thanks to the slow and steady output of the famed Toyoda G3 loom, the resulting textured fabric puts this culturally inspired denim on the pedestal it deserves. SDA also come fresh this week with their new range of L/S Loopwheel pack tees. With only a few factories based in Wakayama that are still able to produce these loopwheel fabrics (particularly amidst this supply chain nightmare of the imported raw cotton), SDA have continued to bring their pack tees to the table. Spinning and milling a Loopwheel cotton fabric is an extremely meticulous process, with the circular knitting machines taking around 1 hour to produce just a single meter of fabric. The beauty of Loopwheel comes from this tedious production method. Milling at this slower speed results in a more durable fabric that is less elastic than conventional cotton jersey and will maintain its shape over time.
