Featuring a relaxed top block, with an aggressive taper starting from above the knee, the Comfort Tapered cut was designed by Okayama Denim for Samurai Jeans. Imagine the top block almost as relaxed as a regular straight pair of jeans, with a combination of high rise & ample thigh room. With the taper starting from above the knee, the jeans slim down in the calves to a narrow leg opening.

For Wagami 2.0, we opted for Samurai's proprietary 17oz. Indigo x Black Selvedge, adorned with a shimmering Gold x Silver Lamé Selvedge ID. Having seen the fabric in person back in early 2020 in Samurai's limited "Musashi" Jeans, we felt this was the perfect weight and hue of Indigo to be featured in our latest iteration of the Wagami series.

Opting for the custom blackout “Sakura” rivets produced exclusively for our collaboration series, the craziest detail brings together this collaboration so much so that we decided to name it “Wagami”. Wagami is the Japanese term for myself, or oneself. The idea here is that we tucked a beautiful “Wagara”, or traditional Japanese inspired fabric into the back pockets. It’s a detail we want you to cherish and enjoy for yourself, and admire possibly when you take the pair off. Not a detail that is meant to be shown off to the world. So with the concept of design discretion, we decided on the name “Wagami”. A pair of jeans with details meant to be enjoyed by a fellow denim nerd.

**Please note that as this is an unsanforized pair of denim, the jeans will shrink up to 10% with the first soak, and then stretch out with wear. Took a break from my #indigoopen entry for a few days to get a feel for these ODxSJ Wagami II. Definitely not a pair to compete and rush through with. More of a lifetime fade pair. Wagami is the term for myself, or oneself. Perfect description for these. Everything about these for personal appreciation and enjoyment. The texture of the denim is slubby and the indigo black denim gives a dark indigo hue that has tons of depth. Personal pocket liner with hidden arcuates and check out that patch! Only a few wear and you can already see some laser blue peeking through here and there. The fit is like a regular or relaxed fit with a strong taper. Little loose in the top block and cleans up nicely from the hips down. I think a lot of the looseness can be fixed with another hot wash to tighten up that shrink to fit. As far as build quality and finish, not much needs to be said when it comes from two denim powerhouses like @okayamadenim and @samuraijeans. It’s all 10s
