A proprietary development for F/W ’21 by L&W, this collaboration features a Heather Slub cotton jersey knit, a highly textured and irregular weave. The irregular weave minimizes contact upon the skin when worn, allowing for the fabric to maintain maximum comfort and breathability.
Paying homage to the USN undershirt style common amongst servicemen during the 1940's, the process of attaching the bib panels on both the front and back of this garment requires the meticulous attention of a skilled artisan.
Applying a combination of rare knitting techniques to bring this piece to fruition, both the fabric weaving and garment construction of this tee occurs in Wakayama, Japan. A Union Special 4-needle flat seamer machine commands all the seam construction, while the tedious post garment sewing construction of the bib stitching completes the detail-driven focus that all Loop & Weft garments have become renowned for.
The process starts with a natural cotton heather slub jersey base, with the tees then garment dyed in Natural Kakishibu by hand, one piece at a time. A combination of the irregular nature of the fabric and the heather nature of the base fabric, results in the penetration of the natural dye in a variegated fashion, celebrating a range of Kakishibu dyed hues.
*Model is pictured wearing a size M. He weighs 59kg (130 pounds) and is 178cm (5’11”) tall.
**As this is a garment dyed piece, please note that this garment may stain other articles of clothing given the nature of the natural Kakishibu dye. This bleeding or transfer of color onto other garments can happen when it comes into contact, either directly or during the wash process. We would recommend washing this garment with similar colors.
